Staying true to oneself is sometimes the hardest thing you can do.
It’s pretty easy to let go of who you are and just go with the flow. With what everyone says it’s right. With what everyone else says it’s cool and trendy. But when you look around, there’s always someone who says that something isn’t that cool, or that right.
There’s always someone who has the guts to stand up and go against the tide. But then, that person becomes the new trend setter that everyone follows. So it becomes a vicious circle.
Of course that circle has some flaws. The groups usually fracture when the new leader doesn’t like or finds something annoying about someone that was once a friend. And that person is somewhat cast out, sometimes not even knowing why. And sometimes that cast-out ‘drags’ some people along, and a brand new group forms.
My question is, is there a way to break these circles? Or is this just human behaviour, that we don’t even notice when we do it?
